Since 1964 the alumni chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon has awarded a Musician of the Year award to a deserving Eastman faculty member. Past honorees have included Howard Hanson, Christopher Seaman, Jeff Tyzik, and the Ying Quartet. This year's honoree, Kenneth Grant, is associate professor of clarinet at Eastman, as well as principal clarinet of the RPO. Besides being the honoree of the concert, he is its featured performer, and the program will include clarinet works such as Poulenc's Sonata for Clarinet and Piano and C. von Weber's Quintet for Clarinet and Strings. Accompanying him will be a variety of Eastman faculty and RPO members.
Musician of the Year: Kenneth Grant performs Sunday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Kilbourn Hall, 60 Gibbs St. Free. 274-1100

I love Ken Grant's playing! I've seen him play the Mozart Concerto on basset clarinet w/ the RPO; it was a year or two ago. He's really good and I'd like to be that good a player someday.
