Characters both splendid and ordinary get their wings through Lisa Bigwood's rural-rooted folk. Bigwood continues on a path of lyrical majesty cloaked in a projected simplicity with her latest release, "Intrepid," on which the music runs the spectrum from minor haunt (on tracks like the eerie ballad "Mountain Man") to simple homespun thrill ("Iris and Rose"). Bigwood finger-picks her way around the guitar a mere breath away from the blues. When other instruments get invited to the proceedings, it's more as an aid, an emphasis, an exclamation point to her lyrics. Bigwood runs deep.
Lisa Bigwood plays Saturday, March 6, 7 p.m. at Stage 13, FLCC, 3325 Marvin Sands Dr, Canandaigua. Free. 394-3500.
