Who the hell decides to launch a new album by throwing a party at the Barrel of Dolls? And featuring a pig roasting on a spit? Only the twisted Tommy Brunett, paragon of the fountain hairdo. Brunett's new album, "Hell Or High Water," is a namedropper's dream, with musicians from the Old 97's, LeAnn Rimes, Lucinda Williams, and Norah Jones gracing the platter. Brunett's personal blend of country and rock, which he delivers with the subtlety of getting whapped in the face with a raw steak, will have you hopping on his bandwagon and clinging on for dear life. Wear a belt. Or suspenders. Catch an appetizer of the roasting festivities at a free show at Record Archive (33 1/3 Rockwood St) at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 25.
Tommy Brunett Album Release Party & Pig Roast play Saturday, June 26 at 5 p.m. at Barrel of Dolls, 173 Anderson Ave. $25. 288-1910, 244-1210
