DARK SYNTH-POP: Silent Auction (7/29)

Silent Auction has a great deal to celebrate this year, specifically two of its members getting married and the three-piece getting signed. Nilaihah Records released the band's latest offering, "H on Earth." Combining a love for industrial and electronica, the music is as danceable as it is dark. Driving beats mixed with two-part, he-said/she-said harmonies that play off each other over swirling layers of an expertly produced electronic-music bed. Sample the synth landscapes along with the atmospheric electronica stylings of Ego Likeness, another happily married duo of the genre. Rounding out the bill is Twilight Garden, a one-man operation of lush guitars, dark synth, and stark emotion.

Silent Auction, Ego Likeness, Twilight Garden play Thursday July 29 at 8 p.m. at Water Street Music Hall, 204 N Water St. $12-$15. 325-5600

Anyone who lives near Rochester and misses this show is crazy. You'd be hard pressed to find a better EBM band anywhere in the USA.
