GOSPEL: Joey Williams (7/29)

While guitarist Joey Williams is listed as the main act, the show Thursday at Lovin' Cup will probably be an informal gathering of much of the legendary gospel group Blind Boys of Alabama. Special guests may include singer Jimmy Lee Carter, drummer Ricky McKinnie, and bassist Tracy Pierce, but regardless of what combination of musicians' shows up, the show is guaranteed to be super-charged and soul-drenched. Since forming in 1939, the Blind Boys of Alabama have become probably the most important and influential gospel group in history, earning five Grammys and lifetime achievement awards from both the Grammys and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Joey Williams plays Thursday, July 29 at 8 p.m. at Lovin' Cup, 300 Park Point Dr.  292-9940
