The members of Texas in July may be young, but don't write them off as amateurs. The five-piece hardcore metal act only formed in 2007, yet it just wrapped an extensive European tour, and has released its first full-length album, "I Am." The Rochester-born band has built a solid following and generated plenty of buzz in a short time, bringing its take on metalcore to packed houses locally and abroad. Texas in July's sound fits the metalcore label; heavy guitar riffs, solid drumming, and lyrics and vocals to match the style. The pure passion and energy the members bring to their live shows make this a band to keep your ears open for.
Texas in July plays Thursday, July 29, 6:30 p.m. at Water Street Music Hall, 204 N Water St. $10-$12. 546-3887, waterstreetmusic.com.
