It's hard to overstate Pat Benatar's influence on the history of rock ‘n' roll. Perhaps the preeminent female rock artist of the 1980's, Benatar conquered the charts and appealed to a broad audience while retaining the spunk and verve that qualified her as a down ‘n' dirty rocker. With classic singles - and accompanying videos - like "Hit Me with Your Best Shot," "Love Is a Battlefield," "Heartbreaker," and "Shadows of the Night," Benatar also became one of the artists who literally kept MTV afloat back when the network actually played music. On Sunday, Benatar will open for arena rockers REO Speedwagon, but don't be surprised if the pixie with the powerful pipes steals the show.
