ACOUSTIC POP: Velvet Edge (3/29)

Velvet Edge's viola makes these four ladies more luscious than Jackson. The songs have a timeless folk feel, yet when that horsehair gets flexed and drawn across cut gut, the slithering dissonance grabs hold. It's dreamy in its lilt, yet somewhat obtuse overall, which makes Velvet Edge's music the kind
you don't need to entirely understand or explain in order to enjoy. I mean, how many ways are there to say "beautiful?"
