Many critics and fans compare Eric Bibb to blues legend Taj Mahal; like Taj, Bibb is a master at playing old-school folk blues while blending in gospel, soul, and a thoroughly modern sensibility. So it's not surprising that Mahal has been a major influence - not to mention a frequent collaborator - with Bibb. The admiration is mutual; Mahal calls Bibb "one of the new, young singers on the scene that, much to my delight, has a great voice, is an excellent performer and has a great knowledge about the roots of this music." You can judge for yourself when Bibb plays at the German House. Opening for Bibb is lap-steel virtuoso Derick Campbell, a member of the Rochester-based Campbell Brothers.
