BLUES/SWING: Duke Robillard (7/24)

By Ryan Whirty on July 23, 2008

There isn't much guitarist and singer Duke Robillard hasn't done during his 40 years in the blues business. In 1967 he founded Roomful of Blues, one of the most successful and long-lasting swing bands out there. He's been a member of the Fabulous Thunderbirds, and he's played with rockabilly legend Robert Gordon. He's produced several records for various artists, and he's been a session musician for Bob Dylan, Ruth Brown, and a slew of others. More recently, he's received four Best Blues Guitarist nods from the Blues Music Awards, and he and his new band are touring behind his latest release, "A Swingin' Session."

Robillard performs with Redline Zydeco Thursday, July 24, 5:30 p.m., at Party in The Park, Riverside Festival Site, corner of Court and Exchange streets. Free. 428-5990.
