COUNTRY: Blue Jimmy (7/18)

By Ryan Whirty on July 16, 2008

Rochester-based roots rock band Blue Jimmy is, to say the least, a tough band to pigeonhole. Its sound could be filed under Americana in general, but the band covers the entire gamut of traditional American styles, mixing blues, jazz, country, folk, and rock into a unique mélange that makes the group stand out from many of its roots-rock peers. That unique sound is very much in evidence on Blue Jimmy's new Round Boy Records CD, "South Ave Sessions," the release of which the band will celebrate at a special show at Water Street Music Hall this Friday.
