HIP HOP: Tinted Image w/ Average White Band (5/9)

By Brendan Giusti on May 7, 2008

It's old-school soul with a hip-hop vibe and loads of jazzy hooks. Tinted Image is one of those bands that defies the single-genre classification and simply falls into the category of "great." Zahyia Rolle's sultry vocals weave in and out of the back-up horn lines and funky strums of the guitar, always landing in the pocket. And it's all done while preaching a positive, uplifting message in the lyrics. The songs are infectious and demand you move to the groove. Tinted Image will bring its powerhouse, feel-good show to the Water Street Music Hall when it opens for Average White Band.
