There's a good chance that some talented alumni of RIT's School of Film and Animation will go on to become famous auteurs. But until someone invents a way to predict upon whom the Fates will smile, you can always hedge your bets with SoFA's yearly Honors Show, which offers the public an opportunity to get a look at what will later be known as "early work." The three-hour showcase features 20 short narratives, documentaries, and animated pieces handpicked by SoFA students and faculty from more than 500 entries made during the 2007-08 academic year. Among them are Christos Tzeremes' elegant 3-D animation "Out of Phase," as well as "Ben's Mom," a deftly shot short fiction by Lauren Tracy and Lindsey Timko about a family desperately trying to preserve the big dreams of a little boy.

The Dryden Theatre at the George Eastman House, 900 East Avenue, will host SoFA's annual gander at the future of cinema on Sunday, May 25, at 11 a.m. Tickets are $5, or flash your valid student ID for free admission.
