Pauly Shore comes from some funny stock. LA's Comedy Store was founded by Ma Mitzi and Pa Sammy. Growing up amongst comedians gave him a unique perspective on being one himself. He noticed that most of them tried to be funny, so he figured if he didn't, it would make him stand out. That it did, for better or worse.
After getting his start as a talking head on MTV, Shore went on to do a series of low-budget movies, carried his own show - "Totally Pauly" - for a few years, and hung with the wild girls on MTV's Spring Break parties. Shore has been relatively unseen of late, except for stints on David Letterman's show. It was rumored that he would take over the "Late Night" spot in 2009 when Conan O'Brien moves to "The Tonight Show," but that prized piece has been scooped up by ex-"SNL" star Jimmy Fallon.
You can see Shore this Saturday, October 4, at Monroe Community College, 1000 East Henrietta Road. Tickets are $5 for MCC students, $10 for alumni, and $15 for the public. Call 292-2534 or visit monroecctickets.universitytickets.com.
