The basic premise of "The Pillowman" is this: a writer living in a totalitarian state has penned some short stories that are a little too similar to a series of murders that have taken place in real life. (I wonder if the weapon of choice was a fluffy pillow, used to smother innocents in their sleep? But that's pure speculation; I could be dead wrong.) Of course, a thing like that doesn't go unnoticed, and the writer is brought in for interrogation. Witness the unfolding of the rest of the story when the play - billed as a black comedy, and not meant for young audiences - is staged at Blackfriars Theatre, 28 Lawn Street. It runs Friday, October 10, through November 1. Tickets cost $25. Go to blackfriars.org or call 454-1260 for the full schedule.
