Our drive-thru holiday light shows may be a thing of the past, but that's just an excuse to take an adventurous drive to Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool for Lights on the Lake. I've heard it's worth the effort. The massive light display even refers to itself as "Central New York's No. 1 holiday attraction."
You can drive through the two-mile-long sparkling spectacular 5-10 p.m. every night for $8 per carload ($6 on Mondays and Tuesdays with a Wegmans Shoppers Club Card). The massive two- and three-dimensional light displays feature themes ranging from a fantasy forest to a Victorian village to holiday scenes to...sports activities. It's quite a mixture.
For those of you planning on popping the question this holiday, Lights on the Lake lets you can do it via purchase of a $175 personalized message banner, yours to keep after opening.
Located at 6790 Onondaga Lake Parkway in Liverpool, the drive is one hour and 25 minutes - 81.57 miles - from CITY Newspaper headquarters per MapQuest. Visit lightsonthelake.com for more info, or to place your proposal order. You might want to leave the sleigh at home.
