FESTIVAL: Light in Winter (1/23-1/25)

on January 21, 2009

Experience music, dance, origami, magic, and "A Short History of Nearly Everything" all in one weekend during Ithaca's Light in Winter festival, taking place Friday, January 23-Sunday, January 25. Highlights from the festival include the play "A Short History of Nearly Everything," based off of Bill Bryson's bestselling novel, which takes you back in time where people such as Einstein, Curie and Darwin prove that people are really the basis of science. Other events include an educational wine-tasting with Nancy Tisch, an owner of wineries throughout Aurora; a writing workshop with poet laureate Paul Hamill on "writing through observation"; and a kid-friendly exhibit on mold and mushrooms that includes photographs of miniature fungi taken with a borescope lens.

Many of the weekend's events cost less than $10 and take place at Cornell University or nearby venues. For ticket information, visit lightinwinter.com or call 607-273-4497 or 800-284-8422.
