Miles Davis and Duke Ellington may captivate adults and jazz aficionados alike, but it can be a harrowing task to get a child grooving to "Freddie Freeloader" or "Take the A Train." Thankfully, Rochester chamber music group Quartsemble provides a series entitled "Kidsemble," in which children ages 5-12 and their families can learn about what makes different genres of music exciting. "All That Jazz," the second installment of the series, will feature guest artist Herb Smith on trumpet and educator Terry Fonda Smith teaching children how to enhance their jazz knowledge by creating simple instruments and learning to play them.
"Kidsemble II: All That Jazz" takes place Saturday, March 7, at 1 p.m. at the Adams Street Recreation Center, 85 Adams Street. Both the performance and workshop are free. For more information call 314-8716 or visit quartsemble.com.
