Not that we could possibly do justice to all the women in the world in a day, a month, or several lifetimes. But a group of locals has formed to hold a celebration honoring women at Rochester Contemporary Art Center (137 East Ave) that'll feature ethnic cuisine, music and dance, and multi-cultural blessings and peace offerings. The Rochester International Women's Day celebration takes place Sunday, March 8, 1-3:30 p.m. at Rochester Contemporary, and if you attend, you're encouraged to dress in festive ethnic attire.

The celebration is being held in conjunction with Jamie Columbus's exhibit (pictured) "Earth Tones Woman: A Modern Gypsy's Photo Journal," which honors women around the world. "Earth Tones" is on display at the gallery through March 15. For more information about the celebration and exhibit, call 461-2222, or visit rochestercontemporary.org.
