FESTIVAL: Lilac Fest (5/8-5/17)

There's only one time per year in Rochester where you can do the following with five-minute intervals of each other: gorge on fried food, fill a plastic tube with sand in all the colors of the rainbow, catch a free concert, make a wax hand, eat a Nick Tahou's garbage plate, slurp up a huge strawberry smoothie, and then frolic through fields and fields of lilacs.

The Lilac Festival is 10 days of free fun (aside from what you pay for select concerts, food, and crafty items) that combines all of the vendors, arts and crafts, music, and lilacs you could ever want or need. This year the event runs Friday, May 8, through Sunday, May 17, 10:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. at Highland Park. A schedule of performances is below; unless otherwise noted, all events are free.
