This team of fishnet-wearing femmes on skates is more than a collection of fun nicknames (Elbows Presley, Hedda Lead, Paraliza Minelli, to name just a few) - it's a crew of fierce dames that mean business, who flaunt the camp side of the sport as unabashedly as they do the serious side (the team roster has an asterisk next to the names of women who aren't skating right now due to injury).
Catch the girls in action at the Roc City Roller Derby's Inaugural Brawl on Saturday, May 16, at the Genesee Valley Sports Complex (133 Elmwood Ave). Doors are at 6 p.m., the bout starts at 7, and tickets are $10 ($15 for suicide seats). There's a band at half time, and after the game, a "Lick'er Wounds" after party at Boulder Coffee (955 Genesee St). Go to rocderby.com or myspace.com/rocderby for more information.
