The thrill of finding something you've been looking for - or something you didn't know you were looking for - is hard to match. But rather than sift through the grungy bins at the local thrift shop, you can check out some high-end treasures (think artwork, jewelry, china, porcelain, silver, crystal, fine linens, small furniture, and pewter pieces) this weekend at the Memorial Art Gallery.
The Art & Treasures Sale takes place Friday, June 26, 11 a.m.-7:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 27, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.; admission to the event is free. There's also an appraisal fair on Saturday, where you can bring in your family heirlooms and have professionals put a price tag on them. If items are large, bring in a photograph. It'll run you $25 to have two items appraised; proceeds benefit the MAG.
Also, there's a chance to get into the sale ahead of the crowd on Thursday, June 25, 7-9 p.m., at the event's preview party. Tickets cost $25 (call 276-8910), and there'll be dessert, coffee, tea, and first dibs. The MAG is located at 500 University Ave. Visit mag.rochester.edu for details.
