Step on into RIT's Gordon Field House for the 15th Annual Rochester Step-Off this Saturday, June 13. The show starts at noon, and will be full of funky rhythms and cool choreography. The event, which regularly attracts nearly 10,000 spectators each year, features step-dancing troupes from area middle and high schools. Step dancing originally emerged among slaves in coalmines as a way to pass the time, and has evolved into a popular style that involves synchronized stomping and clapping. The Step-Off program goes one step further and requires all participating groups to perform community service and improve their grades. Tickets to the show cost $10, and can be purchased through Ticketmaster. For more information, visit rochesterstepoff.org.
