The drive-in is fun, but every year Monroe County offers outdoor films that give you an excuse to get your friends together and catch a flick in the open, warm summer air. For free. Show up early to stake out prime real estate, and don't forget the snacks (or the bug spray).

Every Thursday through August 13, Movies in the Bowl takes place at Highland Park Bowl on South Ave. The first one of the season is "1776," and it screens on Thursday, July 2.

Over at Ontario Beach Park, Movies at the Beach kicks off its series with "Jaws" on Tuesday, July 7. The movies continue on Tuesday nights through August 11. Films start when the sun goes down. For the full schedule, check monroecounty.gov, or call 753-PARK.
