Winter in upstate New York is a notoriously frigid, so when summer comes around, Rochestarians rejoice in the blissful, balmy weather that finally comes our way. And what better way to celebrate the sunny summer days than to head outdoors to Genesee Valley Park (2 Elmwood Ave) for one of the city's Tuesday Nature Nights?

The weekly series of events, which runs every Tuesday through August 25, helps participants appreciate the beauty and recreational benefits of Rochester's natural surroundings through bike rides, hikes, and canoe trips. This week's event, taking place on July 28 at 6 p.m., will feature a guided outrigger canoe paddle down the river to the South Wedge neighborhood.

Registration for the canoe tour is required by July 24 and costs $15. For more information, call 428-5990 or visit cityofrochester.gov.
