We can easily assume that living as normal folk among Hollywood stars would be quite annoying. All the media, insane fans, and other crazy folk right out on your lawn at all hours, blocking your driveway, broadcasting from your front lawn, bothering you for pointless interviews. How awful.

There's a comical way to look at the story as well, as shown in "Barbra's Wedding," being staged by Blackfriars Theatre at the Geva Nextstage starting Thursday, July 23. "Barbra's Wedding" shows the mad rantings and ravings of Jerry Schiff, neighbor to Barbra Streisand, during her 1998 wedding to James Brolin that created a media circus on his front lawn. Don't worry, the dramatic story is funny and ends on a happy note.

The show runs at Geva's Nextstage (75 Woodbury Blvd.) through August 23. Also be on the lookout for a second Blackfriars summer show, "The Musical of Musicals: The Musical," coming in August in advance of the theater troupe's move to new digs on East Main Street this fall. Tickets cost $13; visit gevatheatre.org for tickets or blackfriars.org for more information.
