Take yourself out to the ball game - not just any ball game, but an 1800's ball game at the National Silver Ball Tournament this weekend at the Genesee Country Village and Museum. From Friday, August 7, through Sunday, August 9, you can catch dozens of vintage base ball games on the museum's four fields, including Silver Base Ball Park, a replica of a vintage 1800's baseball park.
Fourteen teams from all over the country and Canada will be going at it out on the fields at the museum's seventh year of the tournament. The championship game will take place Sunday at 1:30 p.m. But be sure not to miss the ladies' games too, as the museum's own teams - the Brooks Grove Belles and Miss Porter's Ladies Base Ball Club - will play a game Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Then on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. the public will be encouraged to join the lasses in a large town ball game on the Great Meadow.
The National Silver Ball Tournament runs 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at GCVM, 141 Flint Hill Road, Mumford. All base ball games are free with the museum admission. For more information visit gcv.org.
