It's not strictly accurate to refer to Cirque du Soleil as "theater." The show incorporates dance, acrobatics, amazing costumes and atmospherics, music, magic, spectacle and surprise to create an immersive, fantastical experience.
The world-renowned troupe brings its touring show "Alegria" to town this week. Expect to see contortionists, balance acts, fire-knife dances, synchronized trapeze acts, and much, much more throughout the program. And expect your mind to be fully blown.
"Alegria" runs at the Blue Cross Arena, 1 War Memorial Square, Wednesday, September 23-Friday, September 25 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, September 26, at 3:30 & 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, September 27, at 1 & 5 p.m. Tickets cost $32-$90. For tickets call 232-1900, or go online to ticketmaster.com. For more information on "Alegria" visit cirquedusoleil.com.
