Local restaurants will square off to see who can stir up the best chili in town at this year's 6th Annual Great Bowls of Fire Chili Cookoff at the Genesee Center of the Arts. Eateries including Aladdin's Natural Eatery, Beale Street Café, Jines, Natural Oasis Market, and Tap & Mallet Public House, to name a few, will serve up with meat-based, vegetarian, and vegan chili recipes. You can cool off your mouth with beer tastings from Rohrbach Brewing Company and Custom BrewCrafters.
The event will be more than a feeding frenzy. You can bid in the silent auction on items from the Firehouse Gallery, peruse the various center galleries, or check out live music by guitar duo Tin Can Set and jazz trio Company B. Included in the ticket price will be a free handmade bowl created by the Genesee Potters.
The cookoff raises money to support Genesee Center's community outreach programs, and takes place Saturday, November 7, 4-7 p.m. at the center (713 Monroe Ave). Tickets cost $20 per person, or $60 for a family of four (two adults, two kids under age 12). Call 244-1730 or contact geneseearts.org for more information.
