Rochester Roots will present Dr. Samina Raja at this year's annual fundraiser and harvest dinner, an event where attendees can share a dinner made solely with local foods and a become educated on local community food and sustainable planning. Raja has studied racial disparities in food and the impact of food and built environments on obesity and physical activity. Currently a professor at the University at Buffalo, she has worked to bring attention to the importance of community and regional food planning.
The audience will be educated on local progress in Rochester, specifically the City's "From Blight to Bring" proposal, and Dr. Raja will offer insight on how to move forward with a plan that brings healthy sustainable foods into our community.
The event will take place Friday, November 20, at 5:30 p.m. at The Downtown Presbyterian Church, 121 N. Fitzhugh St. Check rochesterroots.org for more details.
