"Escapades" runs through January 31 at Eye Candy.
If you've seen the beautiful, striking Wonder Woman-themed paintings around town (they've been shown at Booksmart and Lux, and we've also spotted one or two at Boulder Coffee), you've already seen some of local artist Sarah Rutherford's work. (She was one of City readers' finalists for Best Local Artist in the 2009 Best of Rochester poll.) Her detailed paintings demand closer inspection, and tell a just as much of a story individually as they do when they're considered in larger context, as part of a complete collection. Rutherford's new exhibit, "Escapades," includes the painting shown above. "Escapades" runs Thursday, December 17, through January 31 at Eye Candy (320 East Ave, 454-4566).
