You can indulge your voyeuristic side this holiday season with several local tours that'll let you inside spectacular, one-of-a-kind homes that are chock full of history and stories.
Corn Hill Holiday Tour of Homes Sat Dec 5. The Corn Hill Neighbors Association and the Landmark Society of Western New York put on this tour of six specially selected Corn Hill homes, including the Miller House/McGhee Home (pictured), which was built in 1895 and is considered an authentic example of late 19th century Queen Anne design. The tour costs $18 and starts at 9 a.m. at the End Time Deliverance Ministry Church on Lunsford Circle. Get tickets in advance at cornhill.org. Note that the 4 p.m. tour and special "Candlelight & Tastings" tour have already sold out.
Sonnenberg's Howell Street Tour of Homes Sat Dec 5. This annual tour includes the gate house at Sonnenberg and six historic homes in Canandaigua. Tour booklets will tell you tidbits about the houses and their architecture, and after the tour (starting at 4:30 p.m.) you can head back to Sonnenberg for carolers and a Victorian Santa. The tour runs noon-5 p.m. and costs $20. Go to sonnenber.org for more information.
The 29th Annual Candlelight Tour of Homes in Fairport, Perinton & Penfield Sun Dec 6. This tour features six choice homes, and festive decorations by area garden clubs.
