Two classic tales of childhood fantasy are getting the local stage treatment this weekend. Theatre Young Kids Enjoy (TYKEs) will present Roald Dahl's "James and the Giant Peach" starting Saturday, March 20, at the Jewish Community Center (1200 Edgewood Ave). "Peach" follows James, a young boy who is taken on a whirlwind adventure inside a giant, flying peach with larger-than-life talking insects. The production features professional adult actors as well as seven local children.

TYKEs' production of "James and the Giant Peach" will take place Saturday at 1 & 3:30 p.m., Sunday, March 21, at 1 p.m., and continue through March 28. Tickets cost $14. For more information visit tykestheatre.org or call 461-2000 ext. 235.

Meanwhile, Rochester Children's Theatre continues its production of the quintessential boy who wouldn't grow up, as its "Peter Pan" continues to soar at the Nazareth College Arts Center (4245 East Ave). J.M. Barrie's fairy tale story has been the subject of countless adaptations in print and film. However, some of the most captivating renditions have been on stage, where seeing actors flying around in person is certainly more awe-inspiring than watching it through your TV screen. RCT's musical version will also benefit from the newly renovated theater's flight-rig system, which will allow for smooth flight for the Peter and his gang.

The Rochester Children's Theatre production of "Peter Pan" continues Saturday and Sunday, March 20-21 at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $20-$25. For more information visit rochesterchildrenstheatre.org or naz.edu/artscenter, or call 389-2170.
