Every year Bread & Water Theatre's Rainbow Theatre Festival stages plays that explore the realities of being lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgendered. This year the festival focuses on the color turquoise, which symbolizes art in the rainbow-colored pride flag. The festival has two works left on its schedule, the first being "Ladies and Gentlemen" by Emma Donoghue. The play tells the story of a woman whose true sexuality is exposed by a tabloid news article. The final play is "Nijinsky's Last Dance," a one-man show focused on a dancer's rise and fall, as well as the people who have been witnesses to it.
All Rainbow Theatre Festival productions take place at the Bread and Water Theatre, 243 Rosedale Street. "Ladies and Gentleman" continues Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. "Nijinsky's Last Dance" will be shown at April 30-May 9. Tickets cost $6-$12.
