The George Eastman House officially acquired the Kodak "Colorama" collection as a donation from the Eastman Kodak Company to celebrate its 60th anniversary. The collection is not just a valuable asset because it once graced a New York City landmark - the huge panoramic images spanned the walls of New York City's Grand Central Terminal for 40 years. But the 18'x60' towers are also considered groundbreaking feats for mid-century photographic technology. Just to dry the 20-foot transparencies required laying them out overnight in a recreation center swimming pool area.

The seasonally appropriate exhibit runs all summer long until October 17, and features 36 "Coloramas" and two video presentations. The Eastman House is located on 900 East Avenue, and is open Tuesday-Saturday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday 1-5 p.m., with extended hours until 8 p.m. on Thursday. Admission is $4-$10. Could you please tell me the travel schedule of your Colorama exhibit (beyond its current stay in Norfolk).
