In July of 1990, Congress passed the Americans with Disabilities Act, ushering in wide-ranging civil rights protection against discrimination for disabled Americans throughout the country. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of that monumental legislation, The Center for Disability Rights will be hosting an ADA Gala on Friday, July 23, at the Radisson Riverside Hotel.
The event will feature a performance by Dance>Detour, Chicago's first "diverse-abilities" dance company that includes dancers with and without disabilities. Founded in 1995, the troupe's mission is to explore the endless possibilities of movement despite physical circumstances.
The event runs 6 p.m.-midnight, and tickets cost $50-$75. The Radisson Riverside Hotel is located at 120 E Main St. For reservations or more information, visit cdrnys.com.
