Sometimes dedicated pet owners like to dress up their dogs in fancy costumes and pamper it like a fellow human being. But there are rarely public opportunities to do so, or at least ones that don't result in some weird looks. That's exactly why the First Annual Rochester Fur Ball (pun definitely intended) has been set to take place on Saturday, August 28, at the Strathallan Hotel (550 East Ave.).
Starting at 6 p.m. and lasting until midnight, the Fur Ball will have a doggie buffet, trained animal communicator, and a dog spa outfitted with an animal masseuse. The human counterparts for these lucky, fancily clad dogs can participate in live and silent auctions, raffles, dancing, a dinner buffet, and a dog fashion show featuring designs by top canine fashion designers.
Tickets to the event cost $100 per person, which includes dinner, two-hour open bar, fashion show, dancing, and auction, and $35 per dog, which includes dog spa and buffet. For more information and tickets, visit rochesterfurball.com.
