The film roll may be becoming obsolete, but photographs never will. We are lucky to have the world's oldest photography museum in our midst, and even luckier that it has carefully preserved and stored many of the photographs by the medium's pioneers.
The George Eastman House offers us a look at these pieces, and at the photographic process, in its "The Photograph Collection: An Introduction." Designed as an ongoing and changing exhibit, this first installation gives us a peek at such masters as Edward Steichen, Ansel Adams, Nickolas Muray, and Alvin Langdon Coburn.
The George Eastman House is located at 900 East Avenue. Open Tuesdays through Saturdays 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursdays 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sundays 1-5 p.m., admission is $3-$8. Call the house at 271-3361, or visit its website at eastmanhouse.org.
