By Kathy Laluk on Aug. 6th, 2008
Get your parrots, eye patch, and peg leg ready, because at this year's Palmyra Pirate Weekend - taking place Friday, August 8, through Sunday, August 10 - you and your swashbuckling crew can enjoy a boatload of fun with movies, music, races, and a parade, all designed to help you celebrate your inner swashbuckler.
Check out the Pirate Bazaar sidewalk sales on Main Street Friday 10 a.m.-5 p.m., or go on a tour at the Historic Palmyra Museum 11 a.m.-4 p.m. At dusk on Friday, make One-Eyed Willy proud by catching a free screening of "The Goonies" in the Village Park.
Saturday's events include the Pillage‘n the Village Bed Race Regatta, a window-decorating contest, pirate stories with Bloody Mary, and a costume bash at Lock 29 Tavern, 222 East Main Street, starting at 8 p.m. The festivities conclude Sunday with a R/C boat race (9 a.m.), children's pirate games (1:30-3:15 p.m.), and a musical finale featuring traditional pirate anthems like "15 Men on a Deadman's Chest".
