It's one part block party, one part meeting, and one big festival. Wedgestock, hosted by the South Wedge Planning Committee, is held to promote the camaraderie that already exists and is carefully nurtured in the South Wedge neighborhood. It's not just for current members of SWPC; the public-at-large is also invited to come and see what all the fuss is about. You can dance to live music by Double Take, the Grand Canyon Rescue Episode (which hosts open mics on Wednesdays at Abilene), and the local group JAVA. There'll also be food vendors, crafts for kids, and a dunking booth, so you can meet your neighbors, then soak ‘em.
During the festival, the SWPC will also vote on new board members, and educate the community about services it provides. Wedgestock takes place on Sunday, August 24, 1-6 p.m. at the Highland Bowl on South Ave. For more information, call 256-1740.
