Re: “Equal=Grounds

Great place to meet, greet, make friends, relax an chill out, and drink a great variety of coffee, latte's, and espresso. Salads are fresh and delicious, as are the wraps. Oh yes, cake and ice cream for your sweet tooth. John, the Owner, is the happiest and friendliest guy in the South Wedge. Tell him "dad sent me".

Never had a bad meal here. And I've eaten here like 50 times.

Re: “Tala Vera

Though relatively small for a live music venue, the Tala Vera has something that most other venues do not: great food. Traditional Mexican style cuisine makes Tala Vera extremely special. Attentive bar staff and a friendly, attentive owner make the Tala Vera a great place to hang out with friends. The cantina has some seating, and an outside smoking area. Tala Vera also has plenty of lit parking in the lot behind the bar.

The sound from the audience perspective is amazing. If you're looking to see an acoustic, jazz, indie rock, or singer/songwriter style show with an intimate feel, Tala Vera is a great place to go. Tala Vera also hosts punk and metal shows on a variable basis, and those are a lot of fun as well.

I would love to give this establishment 5 stars, but there is really only one factor preventing me from doing so: the size of the place. While there are separate bar and music areas, they are both quite small.

If you're not afraid to meet new people, have fun, and enjoy some cool music, by all means check out Tala Vera. The cantina also does recording and videography, and maintains an active LiveStream account.

Re: “The Barn Owl

The Barn Owl has so many wonderful gift items, and nature related goodies for kids of all ages. Sarah, the owner was gentle and kind to my children, allowing them to pet Pickles- the hedge hog- and offered lots of simple nature facts while I shopped. Must stop in! Very hands on.

Re: “Nola's Restaurant & Nightclub

Terrible service, overpriced drinks and mediocre food. The only reason to go to Nola's is the live music and proximity to the beach in the summer.

Re: “Geva Theatre Center

On September 9, we attended the Clothesline Festival, a fundraiser for the Memorial Art Gallery. Geva had a table there, and we stopped to see what was coming up. The attendee was especially enthused about "44 Plays for 44 Presidents". Turns out it was scheduled for the weekend of our wedding anniversary. So when we got home, I called to purchase tickets. The person at the box office seemed especially inept, calling back twice in short order to correct erroneous information he had given me. This should have been a sign that I should just scrap these plans and look for something else to do. Late Friday afternoon on the weekend of the performance, we get a call from Geva saying they had overbooked and we did not in fact have tickets to the show. Mind you, our credit card had already been charged, and this was about 24 hours before the performance. They offered to give us seats to some other production on some other date, but that would not salvage our anniversary celebration. They even tried to charge us some service fee rather than give us a full refund (my threats caused them to re-consider THAT idea). I'm not sure what's happening in the Geva office, but suffice to say that we will not be ever attending this venue for any reason. If you want some great theater in western NY, I suggest you head to Buffalo, where they know how to run a theater and a theater district -- http://www.theatreallianceofbuffalo.com.

Re: “Eric's Apartment

It could use a good cleaning. And open the windows once in a while!
