The Eastman School of Music announced its 2010-2011 season today, including details on the official opening of the school's new building in December. The project - part of a multi-year initiative that also included the massive overhauling of the Eastman Theatre last year - will include the new 222-seat Hatch Recital Hall and the Wolk Atrium, highlighted by a glass chandelier designed by Dale Chihuly. A series of programming in honor of the so-called "New Eastman Evolution" will run December 6-12 and feature many of the school's ensembles, faculty, and students.

Other highlights from the ESM season include the Ying Quartet kicking off the Eastman-Ranlet Series with new first violinist Ayano Ninomiya on October 17, the Weser-Renaissance ensemble - which specializes in music from the 16th and 17th centuries -- opening the Kilbourn Concert Series on November 13, the return of the Eastman Rochester Organ Initiative Festival, and the World Music Series kicking off with Indian composer Ravikiran on October 13.

The full Eastman School of Music schedule can be found by heading to the school's website. Look to City Newspaper's Fall Guide in September for additional information on Eastman's 2010-2011 season, as well as all of the local arts & cultural organizations' new seasons.
