The Party In The Park free music series has a new home in downtown Rochester. The event will run every Thursday, June 5-August 7, at what is being called The Riverside Festival Site at the corner of Court Street and Exchange Boulevard.

"It's in the shadow of Blue Cross Arena," says Lorie Lachiusa Barnum, director of cultural affairs for the city. "It's where the Ribbin' on The River Fest was held last year, and it's at the base of the new bridge."

There will be plenty of parking -- arguably more than at the previous High Falls venue -- and Barnum says the site can accommodate up to 10,000 people.

A few artists for the 2008 line-up have been confirmed, including blues guitarist Chris Duarte on June 26 and guitar legend Dickie Betts and Great Southern on August 7. Barnum promises the complete line-up soon, and she's encouraged with the shift in locations.

"The stage is going to be beautiful with the new bridge behind it," she says.
