Artist Biography

CaTaPLeX is an all original 4 piece band based in the Rochester, NY area, founded in 2006. CaTaPLeX blends styles from alternative, pop, progressive, and rock, to take listeners on a new musical journey that is sure to stir the senses. CaTaPLeX is led by accomplished composer / keyboardist / vocalist Ray Lewis. A graduate of the Eastman school, Ray has performed in the classical realm, has taken on Manhattan, and has written and performed commercial jingles heard on national television. Ray draws from diverse musical influences to create unique compositions that can be mysterious, emotional, light-hearted, and thought-provoking. The ideas are often progressive, yet the songs maintain a clear theme, making them as accessible as pop. Ray’s creations are skillfully portrayed by the accompanying members: Darin Giammusso uses electric guitar to provide sounds ranging from a splash of color to total chaos. Vinny Recca keeps it all together on electric bass, backing vocals and saxophone. And drummer / percussionist Paul Hammerick applies the finishing touch with his intricate rhythm work.
