Jenna Weintraub

Biography

Current member of: Krypton 88
Past member of: Jenna and The Horselovers, The Alpine Black, Seven Years.

The Alpine Black and its Appalachian strings is rapidly gaining attention as one of the better local roots acts. Singer Jenna Weintraub is a gem and plays the musical saw as well. Roots rock fans in need of an aural image need only to think of Lucinda Williams' "Sweet Baby " to get an idea of what she does.

Even the Atlanta veterans Silk looked like they were going through the motions. There was no such quibbling with the Bop Fest bands. "C'mon and get me!" guitarist Phil Marshall of Rochester's Jenna & the Horse Lovers howled at the sky as the wind began to whip through the courtyard, the branches from the tree overhanging the stage banging bassist Ken Frank and second guitarist Jack Schaefer on the back of the head. It's a great band, with singer Jenna Weintrab's lullaby vocals on "Bye Bye Blackbird" accompanied by distorted, spooky guitars and veteran Jim McAveny's drums.
