Formed in 1988 by Dagwood McFadden. Members consist of one man - Dagwood. Dagwood McFadden writes most of the songs....he records everything in his attic on a 4 track casette recorder, playing all the instruments....mixes everything onto reel-to-reel and masters the music on this new fangled thing from the future called a "computer" After releasing self-produced albums for 9 years, formed a live version of the band in 1999 with Rick Cona of The Chesterfield Kings and Dave Anderson of The Projectiles and The Riviera Playboys. Toured the NE US summer of 1999 (Geno's in Portland ME, CBGB'S in NYC, The Midway in Boston, The Bug Jar in Rochester))- disbanded in September 1999. Dagwood returned to recording as the "one man" band and 7 more full length releases followed, and will never stop being made until he croaks...Also played drums on the new album by Sky Sunlight Saxon (of The Seeds) and his new project called Green Forrests. It is full length. This is McFadden's Parachute's 25th album since 1991. Two groovy covers from young psych bands from 1968 are on the album. "Gravedigger" by Mass Temper and "My Time" by Golden Dawn. The rest are originals - 2 recorded this year and the rest recorded in 1994 and finally mixed and mastered this year.Full length album number 24 called "HAMMERDOWN" now complete! 18 new songs, 17 original and one cover of an obscure 60's nugget called "Playing With Fire". With original tracks like "Hammerdown", "Baby" and "Time" with wild Farfisa Organ, Swirling Lowery Teenie Genie Organ, 12-string Danelectro guitar, bumble-bee-in-a-tin can fuzz, pulsating wah-wah, tilt-a-whirl phase shifting and some of the coolest hooks and lyrics since "I Cant' Get No Satisfaction" and "Pushin' Too Hard", this disc will definitely blow many minds!
