Biography

Rockdetector BiographyRochester, New York Doomsters, formulated during 1998 and taking their title from the 'Lord Of The Rings' landscape of the mountain of doom. Instigator and guitarist John Gallo, owner of the influential Doom website 'Born Too Late', initiated the band upon his departure from Black Metal band NIGHT CONQUERS DAY, a unit he performed the session keyboard role for. The original ORODRUIN combo featured Gallo and two other guitarists, Nick Tydelski and Mike Puelo, this trio cutting a NWoBHM flavoured two song demo of 'Sons Of Nature' and 'Creation Through Death' as their opening shot in January of 1999. Recorded at recorded at Audio Images, production duties were handled by the ANVIL and OVERKILL credited Sebastian Marino. However, unable to cement a full line up the project floundered.During 2001 Gallo cut new demos on an eight track recorder, performing all instrumentation himself. Fired by these tapes the group was duly re-assembled, drummer Mike Waske enrolling from the band 137, Tydelski returning and Puelo switching to bass guitar. ORODRUIN would appear at the 'Milwaukee Metalfest' in 2002, giving out a unique three track CD single for that event.ORODRUIN released a debut album 'Epicurean Mass' for early 2003 release through the Austrian PsycheDOOMelic Records label. The group also planned a split EP on Hellride Music with Finns REVEREND BIZARRE. ORODRUIN formed up a touring alliance with MOURNING BELOVETH, THE PROPHECY and MORGION for the 'Doomination of America' August dates. ORODRUIN's 2004 album 'Claw Tower' compiled raritities, including a cover of 'Stand Up And Fight' by NWoBHM band QUARTZ, alongside demo material. European touring, seeing the band partnered with WELL OF SOULS and PENANCE, included an appearance at the German 'Doom Shall Rise' festival in April. In the Autumn of 2004 John Gallo and Mike Wasko forged CRUCIFIST, a Death / Black Metal band featuring singer Ron Blackwell and the ANTHRAX, S.O.D., NUCLEAR ASSAULT, HEMLOCK and BRUTAL TRUTH bass veteran Dan Lilker.Credit/s: Garry Sharpe-YoungCopyright: © 2001-2007 Musicdetector WebsitesLast updated: 10 December 2006
