Devall Music is the stage name for area musician and Pompous Pilate frontman Aaron DeRuyter. Since Pilate's hiatus in 2004, DeRuyter has left the city of Rochester for the countryside, gotten married, became a father and made a complete u-turn from the musical genres he has been associated with. DeRuyter describes the sound as an eclectic mix of twangy rock and neo-folk and compares it to the likes of Neil Young during the "harvest" years with a touch of The Heartbreakers and a strong traditional folk influence. With over ten years in the western New York music scene, DeRuyter has fronted a handful of bands, including Indie/Alt rockers Pompous Pilate (albums:"2" 2003, "No living; no lifeguard on duty" 2001), garageband Beachbob ("Live@ Timbercreek" 1999), and coverband Jerkwater. His debut full-length solo album titled "Transit:Sounds For The New Frontier", is almost complete.Devall Music plays as a solo act as well as a full band and fits the venue comfortably from coffee shop to club.
