CONCERT REVIEW: Eddie Angel at Marge's

It was a keen scene down in Seabreeze last night, as Nashville's masked guitar slinger Eddie Angel brought the twang for those in the slick set who braved the snow and blow. Marge's on the Lake was greased up and righteously stuffed. It was so crowded, by the time I got out, my pants were on backwards and I had someone else's car keys in my pocket. Angel, with an inverted Hi-Risers - fellow Straitjacket Jay Smay, and Greg Townson on bass - ripped through plenty of Los Straitjackets staples, holiday classics, and Link Wray. Ain't nothin' like standing nut-to-butt and howlin' with diehard rock 'n' rollers who know all the words to "Comanche."

The band sounded great at a volume just loud enough to get the room boiling. It was so perfectly balanced that through the speakers in the back of Marge's, you'd swear it was the jukebox. I hope they continue this line of booking here, as the summer months will allow the party to spill out onto the deck and beach. Frankie, Annette, even Baron Von Zipper are all gonna be there. Just a few more months of winter first. Comanche!!
