I hate when a big deal is made about a young artist's age to the point that it precedes whatever that artist does. It can cloud a listener's perspective and cause them to be a little too harsh, or too forgiving. Perhaps it's more introspective disappointment, since so few of us had our shit together at 16. Sadie Ava is a teenage singer/songwriter with amazing lyrical depth, a powerful yet beautiful voice, and a captivating guitar style that's equal parts rhythm and melody, with frequent trips north incorporating the whole neck. The songs sound like the lyrics and the tune were written simultaneously, symbiotically, as if each one couldn't exist without the other. I caught her Friday night at Spot Coffee. She's 16 years old; whoop-dee-do. At any age this level of talent would enthrall. And it's only gonna get better.
